You're reading: Foreign Ministry: Rescuers find body of another Ukrainian sailor from Vera ship

The body of another Ukrainian sailor from the Vera, a ship that sank off the coast of Turkey on Jan. 31, was found during a search and rescue operation on Thursday, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov has said.

The victim is from Crimea, and his body, as well as the body of another Ukrainian sailor found by Turkish rescuers on Feb. 22, will be sent for forensic examination in Ankara.

After all of the procedures foreseen under Turkish legislation, the bodies will be sent to Ukraine, he said.

The Vera, a Cambodian-flagged freighter that was carrying cargo from Russia to Turkey, sank off the cost of Turkey, near the province of Zonguldak, on Jan. 31, 2012.

There were 11 crewmembers, including ten Ukrainians, on board the ship.

Three Ukrainians had been saved as of the morning of Feb. 1. The bodies of four Ukrainian sailors were found between Feb. 4 and Feb. 23.
