You're reading: Foreign Ministry: Ukraine’s foreign policy may be adjusted

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry does not rule out the possibility of adjusting the foreign policy doctrine of the country.

"We have certain legal principles of foreign and domestic policy. We have the tasks set out by the president of Ukraine, so the priorities remain the same. On the other hand, life creates a series of new challenges and makes such adjustments, that we cannot do without modifying our foreign policy," Director of Foreign and Security Policy Department at the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Vasyl Filipchuk said at a roundtable in Kyiv on Thursday.

"Five years ago we could not even imagine the situation that now exists in the European Union, and two years ago we could not imagine the current situation in North Africa. Life gives us a series of new challenges," he said.

"Naturally, we are making all the necessary adjustments in foreign policy in order to more adequately reflect the interests of our citizens and society. I think that the minister will soon officially unveil the approved priorities of the Foreign Ministry’s activities," Filipchuk said.
