Germany is concerned by the new wave of escalation in southeastern Ukraine and calls for the prevention of a further exacerbation of the situation, German Ambassador to Russia Rudiger von Fritsch said.
“We are very concerned about the new wave of escalation that we have seen in eastern Ukraine in the past few weeks. We should try to prevent a further exacerbation of the situation,” he said on Facebook, responding to questions from his readers on Aug. 24.
“For this reason, Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and Foreign Minister Steinmeier are again taking extra efforts to promote the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements,” he said.
Rudiger von Fritsch said “all sides agree that it is the only way to resolve the situation.”
