You're reading: Government plans to allocate an additional Hr 1 billion to Kyiv in 2012

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is planning to double funding for Kyiv for the fulfillment of the city's functions in 2012, to Hr 2 billion.

The government proposed to introduce respective amendments to the state budget for 2012 in its bill, No.10317 of April 9, 2012, which was posted on the Web site of the Verkhovna Rada on April 10.

According to the document, it is proposed to allocate an additional Hr 1 billion from the state budget to Kyiv, including for the construction of the subway line to the Vyhurivschyna-Troyeschyna residential district.

Some Hr 500 million is to be spent on the development of the facilities of the housing and utilities sector, transport infrastructure and the socio-cultural sphere, including for the construction of an access road to the Zhuliany Airport, the reconstruction of Andriyivskiy Spusk, and the reconstruction of a tram line in Troyeschyna.

According to the explanatory note to the document, the remaining Hr 500 million is to be used to repay the main amount of debt on loans obtained by Kyiv in 2009.
