“Under the order of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, jointly with
Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko we held a first meeting of the
governmental committee for imposing sanctions against persons supporting
and financing terrorism,” Interior Minister Arsen Avakov wrote on his
He said that the imposing of sanctions against persons that sponsor
terrorism who inspired and organize a referendum on May 16 and persons
who helped to annex Crimea is one of the first issues of the agenda of
providing national security in Ukraine.
Avakov said that the types of sanctions proposed for consideration
towards Ukrainian and foreign citizens who sponsor terrorism and
separatism are the following: arrest and seizure of property and
pecuniary assets of individuals and companies-sponsors of terrorism when
the court rulings takes effect as a part of the criminal proceedings
under Articles 109, 110, 258 and 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The Interior Ministry has drawn up a draft law on the expansion of the
said articles of the Criminal Code.
