Athens, Oct. 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Greece will help Ukraine prepare for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship, Greek President Karolos Papoulias has said.

"We’re planning to actively cooperate with Ukraine in its preparations for the Euro 2012 championship," he said, while opening a Greek-Ukrainian business forum in Athens on Friday.

While speaking about cooperation between the two countries, Papoulias noted that last year the level of Greek investment in the Ukrainian economy reached EUR 328 million, and that in the first half of 2011, the level of Greek exports to Ukraine grew by 17.7%, to EUR 32 million, whereas imports rose by 6%, to EUR 104.5 million.

He also said that "human relations between the two countries" had become more active.

Papoulias said that Greece expected that about 100,000 Ukrainians would visit the country by the end of this year.

"We support Ukraine and will continue to support it in its European aspirations," he said.
