You're reading: Health Ministry to carry out all public procurement of medicines via international organizations in 2016

The Ministry of Health in 2016 will carry out all procurement of medicines with the assistance of specialized international organizations.

According to the press service of the ministry, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk signed relevant government resolution No. 396 dated Nov. 4 on Jan. 12.

“This will allow to reduce risks of corruption during bidding procedures, timely and without delays to implement the procurement process and, most importantly, to provide the population with necessary and quality medicines and vaccines,” the press service said.

As reported, in 2015 the Ministry of Health transferred medicine procurement on 12 government programs totaling more than UAH 2.197 billion to three international organizations, namely the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), UNDP and the British-based Crown Agents.
