You're reading: Helicopter pad to be installed in Kaniv district in time for Euro 2012

Construction work has started on the installation of a helicopter pad in the village of Pekari of Kaniv district in Cherkasy region as part of a state targeted program of preparations for hosting the finals of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.

The pad will be equipped with a terminal with a capacity of 50 passengers per hour and with an access road, the press service of the government reported on Wednesday.

As expected, guests of the championship who want to visit the birthplace of Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko will be able to quickly travel to the famous sites in Cherkasy region.

The total cost of the construction project is Hr 96 million.

The Inspectorate of Architecture and Construction Control in Cherkasy region issued a license for the fulfillment of construction work.

The completion of the pad is scheduled for the end of May 2011. Some Hr 45 million has been already allocated for the work.
