As part of Kharkiv's preparations for hosting the Euro 2012 European Football Championship a helicopter pad will be installed in the city for the provision of medical assistance to participants and guests of the tournament.

"We have already allocated a site in the center of the city for the installation of the helicopter pad," Kharkiv Mayor Hennadiy Kernes said at a working meeting dedicated to the state of Kharkiv’s preparations for hosting the championship.

"This pad will be created on the territory of a new medical center to service the UEFA ‘family’ that we plan to build in cooperation with the Borys [medical] clinic," Kernes added.

According to him, ambulances, specially equipped motorcycles for medical personnel and helicopters will be purchased for the work of the medical center. The opening of the center is scheduled for June 2011.
