Ukrainian law enforcement authorities opened two criminal proceedings on 'hooliganism' charges following the events that took place outside the Russian embassy in Kyiv on September 18, Russia's parliamentary eleciton day.

“In the wake of the events nearby this diplomatic institution, two criminal cases have been opened under Article 296 Part 1 (Hooliganism) of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. A pretrial investigation is underway as part of these proceedings, in particular, in order to identify the persons involved in wrongful acts,” the Ukrainian National Police public relations department said on Monday.

Also, three men were detained and brought to Kyiv’s police departments for questioning this Sunday. A report on administrative violation was filed against one of them under Article 185 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences. Two others were released after being questioned by police.

Another administrative offence report was filed immediately outside the Russian embassy in Kyiv against another individual for disorderly conduct.

Some incidents took place outside the Russian Consulate General in Odesa. In particular, a group of individuals attempted to block the entrance to the consular service, prompting police to detain four people and take them to a police station. Administrative cases were filed against them for disorderly conduct.

In the afternoon of September 18, another two were brought to a police station in Odesa after an attempt to make a tussle outside the Russian consular service. Administrative reports were also filed against them for disorderly conduct.

No public order violations were reported in Lviv or Kharkiv.
