You're reading: Hroisman hopes Yatsenyuk will remain prime minister

Acting Prime Minister and Vice Premier and Minister for Regional Development and Construction Volodymyr Hroisman has said he hopes that Arseniy Yatsenyuk, who recently handed in his resignation, will remain in the premier's office.

“I believe that the prime minister is where he belongs to. This is my
personal opinion. And I wish very much that very right solutions to the
current problems will be taken in the current conditions, and the prime
minister, as well as his government, will continue to work… I believe
that the premier is very consistent in his absolutely fair position,”
Hroisman said at a briefing in Kyiv on July 25.

Hroisman also claim that the premier’s post is not a goal in itself
for him. “As for me, it was Arseniy Petrovych [Yatsenyuk] who invited me
to work in the government. And premiership for me has never been and is
not a goal in itself,” he said.

“As for how long I’ll be acting prime minister: there are instruction
by the prime minister and a decision by the government, and I think
these are quite formal functions. But from the other sides, there are
many working issues that needs to be addressed, and they shouldn’t be
stalled,” he said.

Hroisman said that the government isn’t authorized and doesn’t take any decisions as for the premier.

As was reported, Yatsenyuk’s resignation statement arrived at the
parliament. On the same day the cabinet announced on its Web site that
the premier’s duties would be performed by Vice Premier and Regional
Development and Construction Minister Hroisman.
