“The purpose of my visit to Ukraine is to open a chess academy in the village of Klesiv, Rivne region, and to announce the creation of the Chess Party,” Ilyumzhinov told a press conference hosted by Interfax-Ukraine.
“There are democratic parties and Communist Parties, and now there will be a Chess party. Why in Ukraine? Because the proposal came from the village of Klesiv, which will go down in the world history of chess and political thought,” Ilyumzhinov said.
“This party will be international. I would call it the World Chess Party. FIDE comprises 177 countries. We are hoping to increase the number of countries to 200 in the near future,” he said.
