You're reading: Industrial production in Donetsk region areas controlled by Kyiv halves in seven months

Industrial production in Donetsk region ubder Ukrainian control in January-July 2015 dropped by 48.2 percent year-on-year, the press service of Donetsk Regional Council has reported, with reference to the main department of statistics in the region.

“At the same time, output grew by 6.8 percent in July this year compared to the previous month,” the report said.

Speaking about the main sectors which observed the largest decline in production in the first seven months of this year year-on-year, statisticians noted that metallurgical production led with 40.3 percent.

Manufacturing of rubber and plastic products, other non-metallic mineral goods declined by 42.5 percent, engineering declined by 42.7 percent, and production of coke and refined petroleum goods declined by 45.1 percent.

In addition, the fall in production in the textile industry, clothing, leather, leather goods and other materials reached 2.1 times, in mining and quarrying – 2.3 times, food, beverages and tobacco 3.2 times, and in manufacture of chemicals – 3.4 times.
