Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure intends to fully provide grain transportation by rail in the current year, Minister Andriy Pyvovarsky has said at a meeting with reporters.

“We’ve introduced personal liability of the Ukrzaliznytsia acting head and railways for the success of our export campaign. Secondly, there is a quality communication between the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food and market players. The third thing is there is online access to the situation with wagons for market players. Fourthly, it is prohibited to send grain wagons if the destination is not a port or an elevator. Storage in cars is prohibited, this is the personal responsibility of railway heads,” he said.

In addition, if necessary, in case of congestion of the port facilities we declare a convention for a temporary ban on shipment.

“If we see there is loading in some port, we immediately declare a convention, do not do as we did before – drive 1,000-1,500 wagons and are waiting for the ship. There is communication with the port, we clearly understand where the vessels are at the moment,” the minister said.
