You're reading: Justice Minister: Ukraine intends to prove in court Russia’s involvement in financing terrorism

Ukraine has started the process of filing a lawsuit to the International Court of Justice regarding the Russian Federation's financing of terrorism in connection with the events in the east of Ukraine, Ukrainian Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko has stated.

“We have the clear evidence of Russia’s providing terrorists with
weapons, equipment, money, and redeployment of mercenaries. Ukraine has
started the process of filing a lawsuit to the International Court of
Justice against Russia for violating the International Convention for
the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism,” he said on TV Channel
Five.

According to him, the Ukrainian side has started a pretrial
procedure, the corresponding note has been sent to the Russian
Federation.

“After that we will require to form arbitration,” Petrenko said, noting that the pretrial procedure lasts about seven months.
