“We will fulfill it,” the minister told journalists in Kyiv on July 4, when asked what will the Ukrainian authorities do if the
Grand Chamber of the ECHR upholds the court’s ruling in the Lutsenko
case.

When asked whether Ukraine has funds to pay compensation to the
ex-minister, Lavrynovych said, “They are foreseen in the national budget
of Ukraine.”

As reported, on July 3, the ECHR ruled that the arrest of Ukraine’s
former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko violated his human rights. The
court also obliged Ukraine to pay Lutsenko EUR 15,000 in compensation
for moral damage.
