You're reading: Khoroshkovsky: Ukraine eager to continue cooperation with IMF

Ukraine wants to continue cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), First Vice Prime Minister Valeriy Khoroshkovsky has said.

Khoroshkovsky said this during a meeting with the IMF mission led by Chris Jarvis in Kyiv on Monday, according to the government’s Web site.

"During the discussion of domestic economic situation in Ukraine, the first vice prime minister highlighted the stability of the national currency, the normal functioning of the banking system and the improvement of fiscal policy," the report reads.

According to Khoroshkovsky, Ukraine will increase energy tariffs for households only after the development of a program of targeted assistance to the vulnerable sections of the populations and the introduction of energy saving technologies.

He also said that Ukraine and the IMF should continue economic cooperation and resume the stand by arrangement.
