Ukraine is interested in finding the optimal model of interaction with economic integration associations within the Commonwealth of Economic Space Common Economic Space, the Customs Union in the CIS, First Deputy Prime Minister Valeriy Khoroshkovsky has said.

According to his press service, during a meeting with Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko in St. Petersburg on Thursday, Khoroshkovsky noted that Ukraine was carefully studying the experience of creation and functioning of the new integration organizations within the CIS in order to establish effective interaction with them. At the same time considerable attention is paid to the transformation of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space into the Eurasian Economic Union.

“We are interested in working out the optimal model for the interaction with these integrated associations, taking into account the national interests of both our country as well as member countries of these formations,” he said.

In his opinion, a dialogue between Ukraine and the Eurasian Economic Commission at the institutional level may be decisive in this process. “This will help settle the current issues of trade and economic cooperation of Ukraine with member countries of the Common Economic Space, as well as lay the foundation for future cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union,” he stressed.

During the meeting the parties also discussed the trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Russia.
