Murder of Kremenchuk mayor (Poltava region) Oleh Babayev has been reclassified as "premeditated murder committed by a group of persons for hire."

According to the press service of prosecutor’s office in Poltava
region, a pre-trial investigation is being conducted by Kremenchuk city
police and Main Investigative Directorate of the Interior Ministry of
Ukraine in Poltava region.

According to the prosecutor’s office, witnesses’ testimonies are
currently being taken, and 13 tests (ballistics, DNA, etc.) have been
commissioned.

Earlier, the criminal proceeding due to Babayev’s death was opened under the Article “Premeditated Murder.”

As reported earlier, at around 1000, Oleh Babayev was shot in the
chest not far from his dwelling. A criminal case under Article 115 of
the Criminal Code of Ukraine (‘premeditated murder) was opened.
Investigation is being conducted.

Babayev was born in Kursk in 1965. Since 1998, he had been board
chairman of OJSC Kremenchukmiaso. Since April 2005, he had been
president of FC Vorskla (Poltava). He was MP of the sixth convocation of
the parliament since November 2007 from the Yulia Tymoshenko bloc.
Since November 2010, he had been the mayor of Kremenchuk.
