You're reading: Klitschko: authorities deaf to all opposition’s demands

The Ukrainian government did not accommodate any of the opposition's demands at a roundtable meeting in Kyiv on Friday, says leader of the Ukrainian opposition UDAR party Vitaliy Klitschko.

“The authorities did not take into account any of the opposition’s
demands today. This roundtable today was held only to demonstrate that
not a single step is going to be made to accommodate the opposition,” he
said following the meeting.

“Not a single decision was made on any of the key points,” Klitschko added.

Asked what he would say to people gathered on the Maidan, Klitschko
said: “I’m sure that people must join [the action] to put pressure on
the authorities for key issues to be resolved. The authorities must
listen to the people.”

When journalists asked if he believed the president’s statement that
he would not use force, the UDAR leader said: “Do you remember when the
president promised us he would sign the Association Agreement? And now
I’m asking you [journalists], how many times have we heard promises, and
how many times have they been kept? That’s my answer.”
