The Kyiv authorities intend to make changes to the 2015 city budget and allocate funds to reimburse part of loans for thermo modernization and measures to improve energy efficiency in the residential sector along with state compensation, Kyiv Mayor, Head of Kyiv City State Administration Vitali Klitschko has said.

“Now we will decide on whether to lay or adjust the budget [in Kyiv] to compensate [part of the cost of credits], stimulate associations of multi-apartment block co-owners and residents to insulate houses and participate in the program of energy efficiency,” he told reporters after the signing of a memorandum of cooperation regarding the energy efficiency of residential buildings in Kyiv with the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving.

Klitschko expressed confidence that, given the introduction of a mechanism for compensation of part of loans for energy saving in the residential sector at the expense of the city budget, Kyiv, in terms of the number of loans issued, will soon become the leader among the other regions of Ukraine.

Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Serhiy Savchuk said in turn that Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast currently rank second in the total amount of loans issued among the oblasts of the country.
