Vice Prime Minister, Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Borys Kolesnikov has said that the Olympiysky national sports complex in Kyiv is 96% finished, according to the ministry’s press service.

"Now the stadium is almost completed," he told Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych during the head of state’s visit and inspection of the stadium on Friday.

According to Kolesnikov, construction and assembly work at the facility is at the final stage and is going to the approved detailed schedule.

The football pitch has been laid, and the systems of drainage, irrigation and heating have been installed at the stadium.

The field has been marked and the goal posts set up.

Yanukovych personally tested the lawn on the stadium and made the first two kicks at goal.

The opening of the Olympiysky national sports complex in Kyiv is scheduled for Oct. 8, 2011.

Ukraine’s football team will play a friendly match against Germany at the stadium on Nov. 11.
