Volodymyr Makeyenko, the head of the Kyiv city state administration, has suggested conducting a nationwide cleanup on Kyiv's Khreschatyk Street.

“I have a dream that the mayors of Lviv, Donetsk, Vinnytsia, Odesa, and Chernihiv come to Khreschatyk together with us and the citizens who are now there to clean it as soon as possible,” Makeyenko said after a meeting of the Kyiv city state administration on Monday.

“We all understand in what condition the center of the city is now and I am sure we will do everything together. This month should start with the cleaning of Khreschatyk,” he said.

Makeyenko also said he is hoping that an agreement on this matter may be reached with the opposition on Monday.

Responding to a question as to whether he is ready to give a date for when the cleanup will be scheduled, Makeyenko said: “We are ready to begin tomorrow.”
