The owner of the Luxexpress II Company Mykola Ivanenko, following the destruction of his business, has asked United States to provide him and his family with political asylum.

“After repeated threats from unknown people I asked the U.S.
government to provide me and the members of my family with political
asylum,” he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Ivanenko said that his family is now abroad.

“I had to take my family from one third of the country. My family is
abroad. I thank the U.S. government: they provided a visa to me, and
they also provided me with security,” Ivanenko said.

He also said that he had returned to Ukraine only to conduct the press conference.

According to Ivanenko, he was a head of OJSC Luxexpress II. According
to the decision of the Economic Court of Kyiv, the premises that
belonged to the enterprise were declared to have been built illegally
and were subject to demolition without compensation.

According to the lawyer of Oleksiy Bahanets, Economic Court of Appeals confirmed the decision of the Economic Court of Kyiv.

According to Ivanenko, he should receive compensation for the
premises that belonged to his enterprise and were demolished (the
enterprise was situated at the site of the building of the Darnytsia
rail and road bridge across the River Dnipro in Kyiv).

As the businessman said, according to the experts, he incurred losses worth a total of Hr 460 million.

Ivanenko also said that he is going to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.

“I’m preparing to go to the European Court, since 10,000 square
meters were destroyed. $35.599 million – this is what Ukraine owes me
through the fault of officials of Pivdenno-Zakhidna Railways,” he said.
