You're reading: Kyiv court arrests bank account, property of ex-Ukrainian PM Azarov’s son in Sardinia

Pechersky District Court of Kyiv on July 28 ruled to arrest two houses belonging to the son of the former prime minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, Oleksy, in the town of Olbia in Italy, as well as his bank account with Agosto 2012 srl company, the Nashi Hroshi website has reported.

According to the ruling which was posted on the website of the court, a pre-trial investigation is being held against the son of the former prime minister on suspicion of illicit enrichment.

“It has been established that in the period from 12.12.2012 until 11.27.2014 person No. 2 (Oleksy Azarov) while being an MP of Ukraine received from unidentified sources property benefits worth 7.7 million угкщ, 600,000 Swiss frank and $500,000. Later, person No. 2 placed the illegally-obtained property benefits worth 7.7 million euro, 600,000 Swiss frank and $500,000 in banks in Switzerland, Italy and Liechtenstein,” the court said in its ruling.

At the same time, the court said that Oleksy Azarov, in order to conceal his true income and the origin of his income, in 2012-2014 declared his gross income at Hr 19.654 million, the court said.

The court ordered the arrest of the two houses located in the Italian town of Olbia on Sardinia. This property was bought by Agosto 2012 srl company, which is linked to Azarov. One house was bought on Dec. 17, 2012, and the other on Sept. 7, 2013. The court also ruled in favor of seizing his accounts in Santander Private Banking Spa.
