MYKOLAIV - The issue of the prompt release of Ukrainian citizens Oleh Sentsov, Mykola Karpyuk, and Stanislav Klykh will be raised in the negotiations in Minsk as a priority, Ukrainian presidential press officer Sviatoslav Tseholko said.

“The president of Ukraine raises the issue of the release of all Ukrainian prisoners, including Sentsov, Klykh and Karpiuk, at all levels,” Tseholko told reporters on June 15, responding to a question from Interfax about the prospects of Ukrainian prisoners’ release in Russia.

He said this issue will be raised by Ukrainian negotiations in Minsk on the orders of the president.

Responding to a question about the methods of release, Tseholko said that “we are even talking about further international pressure on Russia for the purpose of releasing Ukrainians.”

The negotiations on the release of captured participants in the military conflict in Donbas are handled by the subgroup on humanitarian issues of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk, Moscow believes that Ukrainian citizens convicted in Russia do not fall into this category, and their future is not a subject of the Minsk negotiations.
