Kyiv City State Administration is planning to allocate an additional Hr 50-60 million from the city budget this year to install household and individual meters in residential buildings, whereas it will take three years to provide the entire housing stock with them.

"One of the most pressing issues in the city’s housing and utilities sector is currently to take into account utility services that we provide to residents of Kyiv. Unfortunately, I must say that the volume of activities for the installation of meters planned for the previous year was not fulfilled. Moreover, I don’t see any dynamic trends in this issue," Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov said at a meeting of the committee on economic reforms dedicated to issues of the housing and utilities sector.

Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Mazurchak, in turn, said that 36% of homes had currently been equipped with heat meters and 66% with water meters. In addition, 1,100 residential meters were installed in 2010.
