You're reading: Kyiv reports deterioration of situation in Donbas, records over 20 shell attacks on Ukrainian army positions over past 24 hours

Over 20 instances of opening fire on the Ukrainian Armed Forces positions have been recorded as of 6 p.m. in Donbas, the headquarters of the anti-terrorist operation in the country's east said.

The situation in the ATO zone has exacerbated, the adversary continues shelling the Ukrainian Armed Forces positions, 24 instances of opening fire have been recorded in the course of the day, the press center of the headquarters said in a report on its official Facebook page on June 29 evening.

In the course of the day, the most complicated situation has emerged in the direction of Donetsk, where not far from Luhanske the adversary fired infantry fighting vehicle weapons, heave mortars, tanks and 122mm artillery guns in the morning and throughout the day. “The adversary also fired heavy mortars on the strongholds in the area of Troitske, Novoselivka-2 and Berezove,” the report said.

In the direction of Mariupol, the adversary fired small arms and grenade launchers on the Ukrainian army fortifications not far from Shyrokyne, Starohnativka and Talakivka, 120mm mortars near Novotroitske, the headquarters said.

In the direction of Luhansk, the adversary fired small arms and automatic grenade launchers on the Ukrainian army strongholds near Stary Aidar and Novoaleksandrivka, the headquarters said.

The Ukrainian military opened fire in retaliation to the shell attacks by the adversary, the report said.
