Kyiv is planning to raise a domestic loan of Hr 350 million to purchase 77 trolleybuses, Kyiv City Council Secretary Halyna Hereha has said.

"The issue concerns about Hr 350 million for three years, and the interest rate will not exceed 14.8%," she said at a briefing before the council’s plenary session on Thursday.

She said that the funds would be allocated for the purchase of 77 trolleybuses ahead of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.

At the same time, Hereha said that 50% of the funds to service the loan would be repaid using city budget funds.

"It’s very advantageous for the city," she said.

The issue of raising a domestic loan in 2011 was put on the agenda of the council’s session on Thursday.
