Member of the European Parliament (EP) Danuta Hubner has said that the EP will not block the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.

“I can’t say that we will block the Association Agreement, as we find
it very important, but in general we expect that all terms will be
fulfilled for the signing of the agreement,” she said during a video
conference at the Institute of World Policy on Friday.

Hubner also pointed at problems in the justice system of Ukraine due
to which former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was
imprisoned.

“The EP is really concerned about the issue. There are preconditions
for the signing of the Association Agreement, but there are also many
informal discussions of the issue,” the MEP said.

Hubner added that MEPs have various opinions on the issue and the
majority of them wish the justice system of Ukraine was not politicized.

“We expect to see a faster progress in the development of democracy
and the same refers to the system of justice. You can be sure that your
position on our agenda is very high. This issue is important for both
Europe and yourself,” the European politician said.
