You're reading: Lytvyn: 300 people invited to attend first meeting of new parliament

A total of 300 people, including Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and his predecessors, will be invited to attend the first meeting of the new parliament. 

A respective list of invitees to the first session of the Verkhovna Rada of the 7th convocation was approved at a meeting of the preparatory group on Thursday.

The head of the preparatory group, currently Parliament Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn, said that among the invitees are Yanukovych, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, government members, the chairman of the Central Election Commission, the chairman and judges of the Constitutional Court, the head of the Supreme Court, the prosecutor general, the human rights commissioner, and people’s deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the previous convocations.

Lytvyn said that among those are also former Ukrainian Presidents Leonid Kravchuk, Leonid Kuchma and Viktor Yuschenko, as well as the heads of the Verkhovna Rada of the previous convocations.
