Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn has said that Ukraine hopes to make progress on its way to the European integration during the Polish presidency of the European Union.
"We plan, and sincerely hope, that during the Polish presidency of the European Union in the second half of this year, and with the support of our Lithuanian friends, we’ll manage to make progress on the way [to Ukraine’s integration with the EU]," he said during the fourth meeting of the Trilateral Parliamentary Assembly of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine in Kyiv on March 22.
The speaker of the Ukrainian parliament also said he is sure that the signing of an association agreement with the EU and the realization of an action plan on the introduction of a visa-free regime would promote the deepening of contacts among people.
"Of course, the terms are of great importance to us. The content of these documents, on which intensive work is currently being done, are even more important to us," Lytvyn said.
