Markiyan Lubkivsky will deal with information policy and PR at the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the capacity of adviser to the SBU chief, Valentyn Nalyvaichenko.

“He will coordinate communications sphere of the Ukrainian special services with the national mass media and the world community,” the SBU said on Wednesday morning, Sept. 3.

According to Lubkivsky, the main task of his new job will be informing of Ukrainian and foreign citizens about the SBU’s work “in a common cause of fighting against the aggressor, and defending the country’s territorial integrity, independence and the European way of development.”

“Communication with mass media and public will be continuous and systemic, since victory can be achieved only by joint efforts, professional and self-sacrificing labor,” he said.

Lubkivsky is a famous Ukrainian diplomat, and an extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador. He was born in Lviv on Sept. 2, 1971. He graduated from Ivan Franko Lviv National University. Lubkivsky worked as a diplomat in Yugoslavia, and in the Republic of Croatia.

He led the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s press service (2003-2005), worked as deputy state secretary of Ukraine, president’s adviser (2005-2006), was UEFA director of Euro 2012 championship in Ukraine (2009-2012), and headed the EuroBasket 2015 organizing committee (2012-2014). He speaks English, Croatian, Polish and Serbian.
