You're reading: Miners calling on Azarov to assess situation at Sukhodilska-Skhidna Mine without bias

Miners from Sukhodilska-Skhidna Mine (Sukhodilsk, Luhansk region), part of Krasnodonvuhillia, believe the level of safety at the mine to be very high and call on the Ukrainian premier to be unbiased during the assessment of the situation at the mine, according to a letter of miners sent to Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov, a copy of which has been sent to Interfax-Ukraine.

"The main thing is to use unbiased principles and avoid being in a hurry in words and deeds," says the document signed by the miners, who are members of the trade union committee of Krasnodonvuhillia and the independent trade union organization of the company.

The mine is taking many measures to improve labor conditions, the miners said.

"The work is being carried out in close cooperation with the administration and nongovernmental organizations," reads the letter.

The miners are fully informed about all accidents occurring in the sector and measures to prevent accidents.

"The mine is fully equipped with personal and collective protection devices. The labor collective’s morale is good. The workers of our company will make every effort to avoid accidents and learn a lesson from this," reads the document.

"Our friendly and capable collective has worked and will work on the creation of safe labor conditions. The collective supports the administration of the mine management department in all issues linked to the operation of our company. We jointly decide on all issues and will decide them jointly in the future," reads the document.

The letter says that some workers have other opinions, although they are few and their opinion is not in line with the present situation at the mine.

In late July-early August accidents occurred at several Ukrainian mines, including Sukhodilska-Skhidna Mine, and 39 miners were killed.
