A new two-minute video “Ukraine Reborn" emphasizes the positive side of the nation.

It was
released on July 9 by the Economy Ministry on its YouTube channel. It was shot
especially for the U.S.-Ukraine Business Forum, organized by the U.S.
Department of Commerce. The forum takes place on July 13 in Washington, D.C.

The video
starts with the message “Ukraine Reborn. Driven by the New Generation.
Unlimited Opportunities” and draws attention to promising areas for investment
– informational technology, agriculture, pharmacy, infrastructure and the
aircraft industry.

“Ukraine Reborn” hopes to capture the spirit of post-EuroMaidan Revolution Ukraine.

Jan Koum,
a co-founder of WhatsApp mobile application, and Max Levchin, a founder of
PayPal payments system, appeared in the video. They were born and raised in
Ukraine, but succeeded in IT in the United States.

The video
puts the accent on Ukraine’s educational achievements while showing a
succession of students, achievers and scenic backgrounds.

Among the
impressive numbers: 4th most educated nation; 640,000 students graduate each
year from the universities; 99.7% literacy rate. Also, the fact that Ukraine
has one-third of the world’s rich, black-earth soil is not forgotten either,
helping it become the top exporter of sunflower oil, the No. 2 exporter of
grain,

According
to the Facebook comment from the ministry about the budget of the video and its
director, state funds funds weren’t spent for the video.

“This
video was created with the support of Western NIS Enterprise Fund, Titanium
presentations, Horizon Capital, as well as music bands Onuka and Okean Elzy,”
the ministry says.

Experimental electronic and folk
band Onuka
allowed use of its song “Misto” for this video
production.

It has
already won over fans.

The
U.S.-Ukraine Business Council says the video will be presented by Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk at the
Washington, D.C. forum.

“This
is a call to action from Ukrainians to the world, to the global business
community to come visit Ukraine and discover the exciting business
opportunities that exist here,” the council’s president, Morgan Williams,
wrote in an email. “This film clip demonstrates what government, business
and civil society can achieve when they work together towards a common goal.
Although many people worked on this project, the real star is Ukraine and its
talented people! Thank you Ukraine for the inspiration!”
