You're reading: More fighting reported in Donetsk on Saturday morning

Fighting in Donetsk continued into Friday night and Saturday morning, with the Lidiyivka coalmine workers' village and Biriuzova district being the epicenter of clashes, the Donetsk mayor's office said.

A statement from the office cited local people as reporting powerful explosions and exchanges of gunfire.

“By 0900 the situation was quiet in the city, there was no fighting. Utility emergency repairs services and energy enterprises are repairing damaged electricity and natural gas supply networks,” the statement said.

It said two switched-off transformer substations owned by the Enerhovuhillia Tidal Power Plant in Kuibysheve district which supply electricity for the village of Hirnyk were planned to be reactivated on Saturday.

The office said public transportation was running to weekend schedules on Saturday.
