You're reading: National Resistance Headquarters: Maidan’s Public Council acting under government scenario

The National Resistance Headquarters has been surprised by an ultimatum to the Ukrainian opposition made by a public association, which calls itself the Public Council of Maidan.

“Maidan has not delegated any powers to this self-proclaimed public council, therefore ascribing these statements to Maidan, which was done by some media, is incorrect,” the press service of the National Resistance Headquarters said in a statement published on the Web site of the Batkivschyna party on Friday.

The National Resistance Headquarters also expressed a surprise that the Public Council of Maidan presented an ultimatum to the opposition, and not to the government, against which the participants of rallies on Independence Square (Maidan) are protesting.

The press service said that the Public Council of Maidan was acting according to a scenario by the presidential administration.

As reported, on January 9, representatives the Public Council of Maidan urged the opposition to block the work of the Ukrainian parliament in order to prevent it from adopting the state budget for 2014 and to make the authorities meet the protesters’ demands.

If the opposition doesn’t block the Verkhovna Rada and doesn’t stop the budget process, it should leave the parliament, the public council said.

The Public Council of Maidan also announced the preparations for the first forum of Euromaidans, which is scheduled to be held in Kharkiv on January 11-12.
