You're reading: NATO chief: Ukrainian army should remain neutral towards domestic conflicts

Brussels - NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has expressed concern over Ukraine's attempts to get the army involved in resolving its domestic crisis.

“Encouraged by repeal of Ukraine anti-protest legislation, but very concerned by attempts to involve the military in the crisis,” Rasmussen wrote on Twitter on Friday.

“Ukraine’s military is highly-respected and must remain neutral. I continue to follow developments with concern,” the NATO chief said.

He would not cite any specific example of the Ukrainian army being involved in the internal conflicts between the authorities and the opposition.
