The non-governmental organization, Crimean Supervisory Council for 2012 Elections, has been set up in Crimea to ensure public control over the lawfulness and transparency of the parliamentary election campaign.

At a press conference in Simferopol on September 6, Chairman of the Supervisory Council, Ivan Abazher, who also heads the Crimean Republican Association of Bulgarians, said that members of the Supervisory Council intend to show Crimean residents a real picture of what is happening during the electoral campaign in the autonomous republic.

According to him, one of the main tasks of the Supervisory Council is to provide an objective assessment of the election campaign, to prevent or register any violations, as well as not to allow discrediting the elections.
