Vilnius – European Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger has expressed the hope that Ukraine will find a positive solution to the situation with convicted former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and that the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement will be signed at a summit in Vilnius in late November.

Oettinger said this at a press conference in Vilnius on Monday following a conference on the domestic energy market.

He also said that the Ukrainian side and the European Parliament’s observation mission – former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and former European Parliament President Pat Cox – were actively working on the settlement of the issue.

The next few days will clearly show if proper solution was found, Oettinger said and expressed the hope that the EU and Ukraine will sign the Association Agreement at the summit in Vilnius on November 28-29.
