MOSCOW - Imports of cheese products of certain Ukrainian manufactures not complying with Russian standards will be banned this week, Russia's Chief Sanitation Doctor Gennady Onishchenko has said.

"After contacts with us the Ukrainian authorities did not come up with any proposals to normalize the situation which forces us to start withholding and banning deliveries by several manufactures to Russian territory starting with next week. Corresponding instructions will be given to customs bodies," he told Interfax Sunday evening.

He said that the Russian sanitation authorities continue studying the situation related to the deliveries of certain Ukrainian dairy products to Russia.

"According to the latest reports, cheese products not complying with the technical requirements concerning milk and dairy products approved by law №88 have been identified in several Russian territories among samples taken in retail chains," Onishchenko said.
