A long-awaited deal that would have gained Ukraine a wide-reaching trade agreement with the European Union was delayed yesterday due to Brussels' concerns over the jailing of opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko and rule of law in the former Soviet republic.Both European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso flew to Kyiv for talks with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych prior to opening the summit.
