You're reading: Ombudsman didn’t receive complaints from Tymoshenko

Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Valeriya Lutkovska has said that she has no reason to visit former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko and defend her rights, as she has not received any complaints from the ex-premier.

“As of today, I have not received any complaints about the conditions
in which Tymoshenko is being kept, so, frankly speaking, we have no
reason to [open a case] on a violation of a person’s right to medical
treatment, or breaking into her ward and trying to defend Tymoshenko’s
rights,” the ombudsman said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.

German doctors asked not to disturb Tymoshenko for the moment, so there is no necessity to visit her, Lutkovska said.

The ombudsman also noted that representatives of her secretariat
would attend court hearings of criminal cases against the ex-premier if
necessary.
