A congress of the Party of Regions of Ukraine should elect its leader and presidential candidate, Serhiy Tigipko, a Verkhovna Rada member of the Party of Regions, said at the news conference in Odesa on Friday.
“It is for congress to decide. Don’t expect me to say anything that
would unsettle the situation in the party,” Tigipko said when asked
whether he plans to run for president or lead the party.
“We are having a hard time as it is. Don’t expect anything from Tigipko that would unsettle the party,” Tigipko said.
“As concerns a presidential candidate, a congress will gather and
decide. If it decides that Tigipko is the candidate, then Tigipko will
run, if it decides that someone else, then someone else will,” he said.
