You're reading: OSCE ambassadors meet in Vienna to discuss situation on Ukraine-Russia border

The permanent representatives from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) member states will be holding multilateral consultations at the United States' request in Vienna on Monday to discuss Russia's growing military activity near its border with Ukraine, according to the U.S. mission to the OSCE.

The consultations will be held in the framework of a joint session of
the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation and the Permanent Council, U.S.
Ambassador to the OSCE Daniel Baer said.

Russia has rejected the U.S. request to explain its growing military
activity near the Ukrainian border in accordance with the Vienna
Document regarding multilateral consultations, Baer said.

The U.S. and a number of other member states have therefore convened a
joint session of the OSCE Forum for Security Cooperation and Permanent
Council which Switzerland, the current OSCE-Chairperson-In-Office,
slated for Monday, April 7, the ambassador said.

Russian military activity near its border with Ukraine is raising serious concerns among the international community, he said.
