The OSCE has assured Moscow it will exercise enhanced control over the progress of State Duma elections on the premises of Russian diplomatic missions to Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

“The Russian Foreign Ministry has sent relevant invitations to international observers. There is an understanding on enhanced monitoring near four Russian missions [to host State Duma elections] in accordance with the mandate of the OSCE SMM to Ukraine,” Zakharova said.

“We have received such assurances from the SMM administration and the OSCE,” Zakharova said.
