MINSK - Social problems in the breakaway areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions must be urgently resolved, according to Martin Sajdik, special representative of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

The Contact Group on Ukraine’s economic subgroup in Minsk discussed the restructuring of railway services and social payouts, highlighting the need to urgently resolve these and other social issues, he told reporters in Minsk on June 29.

At today’s talks negotiators were told that coal supplies in the breakaway areas of Donbas failed to resume in full, Sajdik said.

A steady mechanism must be devised for carrying out cargo transportation services, the OSCE representative said.

The political subgroup this week discussed in Minsk the amnesty and local elections in Donbas, he also said.
