More than 2.5 million families were receiving subsidies for housing and utilities services in Ukraine under the new order as of Aug. 28, Minister of Social Policy Pavlo Rozenko has said.

“Today more than 2.5 million households, almost 6 times more than in the same period of 2014, receive subsidies,” he said at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers in Kyiv.

According to the ministry, a new active phase of public appeals for subsidies is expected at the beginning of the 2015/2016 heating season, Rozenko said.

Rozenko said, with reference to data from Ukrposhta, that about 60 percent of Ukrainian families received declarations and forms for formalizing their housing subsidies.

As reported, with reference to Rozenko, on Aug. 26, 2015 subsidies for payments for housing and utilities services had been assigned to about 2.5 million households, while in the same period last year only 400,000 households received subsidies.

Rozenko also said that the Ministry of Social Policy will by Sept. 1 provide a repeated postal delivery of declaration forms for housing subsidies to citizens: on Aug. 26, via Ukrposhta, 30 percent of such declarations were posted.
