You're reading: Over 300 Ukrainian and foreign reporters to cover events at 25th anniversary of Chornobyl disaster

Some 331 journalists from the Ukrainian and foreign mass media have been accredited to cover events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Chornobyl tragedy, according to a posting on the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's Web site.

Among reporters, apart from domestic ones, are representatives of international information agencies Reuters, Bloomberg, France-Presse, Associated press, China’s Xinhua information agency, and TV channels and publications from the countries of CIS, Europe, and Asia, such as Al Jazeera, TV Tokio, and the Indian and Pakistani mass media.

The events include a conference of donor countries on the collection of funds to finance Chornobyl projects, as well as an international summit on the safe and innovative use of nuclear energy will be held.

According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, these events will be held in the Ukrainian House exhibition building on April 19.

They will be attended by the leadership of the country, a source in the executive government structures told Interfax-Ukraine.

In addition, on April 18 the Emergencies Ministry will organize a press tour to the Chornobyl contamination and resettlement zones.

On April 20-22, an international conference entitled "25 Years of the Chornobyl Disaster.

The Security of the Future" is to be held in the Ukrainian House.
