Strasbourg - PACE President Anne Brasseur said that PACE will make an official statement on the mass grave of civilians near Donetsk only after the official results of the investigation are made public.

“As regards to Donetsk, I do not wish to make any statements about this at this moment,” Brasseur said at a press conference opening the PACE autumn session in Strasbourg on Monday, Sept. 29.

“She said that the organization was waiting for the outcome of the investigation that is taking place, because with such shaking information, it is very important that one has good knowledge of all the facts before one makes any statement.

Brasseur also noted that this week PACE parliamentarians would hold debates over Ukraine. The debates foresee no final document, however, they may give new impetus for assistance to Ukraine. Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland and Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks are expected participants of the debates.

As reported, the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission investigated the site of the mass graves outside Donetsk (the town of Sloviansk) last Wednesday, Sept. 24 and suggested that these people died in early or middle June this year, when the town was under control of illegal armed units.

The bodies of killed have been sent for forensic examination. Names of 12 killed have been already established.

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine has said that the spreading of Russian media information about the discovery of a mass grave of people near the village of Nyzhnia Krynka (Donetsk region) and Russia’s blaming the National Guard of Ukraine of mass murders of the civilians is a deliberate provocation.
